The drow captured her, and made her a slave and general play-thing. She was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to her deformed appearance. Being a Spy kept her interest for a while, but then she became depressed and bored. So she turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

Motivation: He is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions; and he has comitted a past crime that haunts him to this day
