She found a children's book about a Half-Orc Monk who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. She modeled her life after the story, seeing herself destined a hero. When she grew older, she became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. She began work as a mercenary for hire. She would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.

Through the years after Efferil was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Efferil's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
