A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it.

History: Aelar lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His family was turned out during the war. He and his family wandered north to less war torn lands. He has since lost track of the people in his past.
