However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the dire rats.

Motivation: She is a bit of a kleptomaniac; and she is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences her actions

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. He struck it rich when he found rare goods in large quantities. He's also a talented Bricklayer, but doesn't like to broadcast it.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of his sister; and he is greedy
