History: He comes from a rich southern family. His mother was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his mother was legitimate. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it; and he is greedy

History: She grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. In her 12th year, her parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Mardnab alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by giants. Mardnab was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the giants.
