History: Thorpe lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His parents divorced when he was young, and his father gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. By chance he met his brother recently and the two have been together since.

Motivation: His relatives are trying to arrange a marriage.
