History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Latbag was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. His parents divorced when he was young, and his father gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: Tagga hails from a village terrorized by giants. Because her mother participated in the massacre of their homeland, giants burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. She was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented her and her father from journeying south to reunite her family. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Personality: She is happy with her job as a Engraver. She turns her eye from what people do, preferring to live and let live. She does not believe in violence as a means to an end. She is a dedicated Engraver but believes her peers are too gung-ho.

History: She comes from a rich eastern family. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Arava grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Arava. She leaves a trail of broken hearts and full pockets wherever she goes.
