History: Oppleby was born the youngest of three triplets. His father disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his father, he was betrayed dozens of times. He has never given up on his writing dream.

Personality: His tongue was cut out and he uses sign language. He has a cruel streak; something he gained from his previous mentor. He harbors resentment against his former mentor.

History: Hoglik was born with his father's beautiful face. In his 17th year, his parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Hoglik alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to giants demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Someone believes him a fraud.

Personality: He is quite rude, and likes to deride his opponents skill and shout insults at them. He is able to fit into much smaller and tighter spaces than normal.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. Being a Mayor kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.
