History: Mary hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. She took after her mother in leading caravans. Because they were valued, her mother taught her to defend herself. When her mother died while fighting dire rats, the young Mary began to lead the lost caravan. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: Kellen lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. A few years later when the north was not economically sound they moved to his current location. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Personality: He is quite rude, and likes to deride his opponents skill and shout insults at them. He is a big fan of imagination and believes people should spend more time reading and writing.

History: He was raised happily, as a normal child born to his father and mother. His father taught him the rudiments of the Unemployed arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. He was one of the best in his class, and was picked up by his current employer. He quickly showed his capability and was soon promoted to a head role. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.
