History: He was born several months after his mother was called into army service. In his 15th year, his parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Veit alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: Several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by giants, and he desires to right it
