History: She grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. Her father was a soldier and died while she was still young. Mary was left her father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: He was raised in a desert tribe. In his 13th year, his parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Conrad alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Personality: He is a man who does what he needs to. He will acquiesce to black mail and extortion to avoid trouble. He is very protective of his business, his home, and his spouse. He is willing to work with less than legal methods but maintains the front of legitimacy.

History: Born in the west his family was never financially stable. At a young age both his parents were killed in an accident. His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

Motivation: Further expansion of business; and a need for knowledge about a nearby landmark
