History: He was born into a rich family. While studying, he fell in love. They married and had a daughter. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to illithids demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: A rival would like him out of the picture; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions

History: She was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. She was an adventurer many years ago and she formed a blood bond with her Human companion (her 'brother'). In her journeys she found a malevolent artifact. She wishes to return this artifact and its corrupting influence back to where it came.
