Because his mother participated in the massacre of their homeland, giants burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the north, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his father from journeying north to reunite his family. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.

In her 17th year, her parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Yebe alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by brigands. Yebe was horrified and prayed that her father was alright. However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the brigands.
