It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Personality: She is a Dilettante first and foremost. She believes firmly that knowledge should be universal. Further she is a bit of a stoner and is frequently out of it.

History: Born in the south to a Dilettante, Shivering learned a great deal about her father's area of expertise. Her father disappeared, and while she tried to raise money to find her father, she was betrayed dozens of times. She now mingles about in high society.

Motivation: An old rival family wants her found; and to unite with her brother
