History: A studious child she never was much for a social life, not because she was unlikable, but because she did not seek it out. Her father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but she insists her father was legitimate. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: She has a rivalry with the Church that dominates her actions.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Mary was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. Her parents were killed by orcs in a raid when she was still a young child. The orcs captured her, and made her a slave and general play-thing. She was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to her deformed appearance. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
