Personality: A grumpy guy he will invite people to lunch so he can critique them. Yet he still seems generally likeable, like a lovable grump. He misses his home and complains about the freezing weather, even in summer.

History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Rurik was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. A few years later when the east was not economically sound they moved to his current location. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Personality: She is highly sensitive about her name. She loathes it, but will not take any guff about it from anyone. She is used to getting what she wants. In part because she is a meticulous planner.

History: Trained by her father for as long as she can remember she had it drilled in her head that it was her duty to serve her country. When Shax reached her early adolescence her Tiefling father passed away. Feeling disconnected from the small nearby village afterwards, she decided to travel. Her rounds led her into the Army with a few individuals who would become her life-long companions. She has been helping groups of widows and orphans who have fled abusive spouses or lost their families to illithids.

Motivation: She wants nothing more than to rejoin the army; and a rival would like her out of the picture

History: She comes from a rich western family. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mother gained full cudstody. She was regularly beaten by her mother, who blamed her for driving them apart. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Motivation: She is greedy; and an old rival family wants her found
