Because her mother participated in the massacre of their homeland, giants burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. She was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented her and her father from journeying south to reunite her family. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

History: Her history is one of pain. She was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves her parents kept. In her 11th year, her parents were killed by a drow raid, leaving Jane alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She has achieved small success as a Gardener.

Motivation: Obtaining odd cultural Gnomish artifacts is her passion; and several ex partners dislike her way of doing things and want revenge

History: He was born in the south, but his parents moved at a very young age to the east. He was an adventurer many years ago and he formed a blood bond with his Half-Elven companion (his 'brother'). He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature spear.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by orcs, and he desires to right it; and a deep hatred of orcs

History: His martial talent manifested at a young age. Aiming to upstage a rival house, his parents had him trained. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered singing. Recently a tribe of orcs attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Jade fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.
