In his 10th year, his parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Cask alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. After a long history of fighting, Cask and his spouse have recently divorced.

She is fiercely devoted to her father, and views her father's ex-spouse as an evil person for separating her from her legal half-sister.
