History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her father always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. Through the years after Pyra was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Pyra's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: Drogo was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Adept, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Adept in service of a powerful lord somewhere. His mother was a mechanic, and taught him how to fix just about anything. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

History: She was born at the edge of vast forest. She went to a religious school and was inspired by the priests there in charitable deeds. One night she noticed a nearby shooting star which she hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Born in the south to a Beggar, Volen learned a great deal about her mother's area of expertise. Since her mother passed away years ago, her father had doted on her, and she came to think her herself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by her attractiveness, a trait in which she easily excels the other women of her town. Some 3 years later her spouse died after the birth of her daughter. Heartbroken, Volen never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her daughter whom she trained as her mother had trained her before.
