History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Broce was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He always admired arcane-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. He was granted arcane powers by his dying brother.

History: Marastyr was born to in a poor docking district. She spent her early days working in the same smith shop her father was employed at, doing general labor. Her father was a soldier and died while she was still young. Marastyr was left her father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. She now owns her own business.

Motivation: She'd like to take her coworkers down a peg; and she wants nothing more than to rejoin the army
