History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Soapmaker hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: She is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences her actions.

History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. She became part of the deadliest team of assassins in recent memory. A botched job caused the group to be disbanded. She now owns her own business.

Motivation: She is a bit of a kleptomaniac; and a rival would like her out of the picture

He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to orcs demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: A deep hatred of orcs; and he is compelled to act according to his religious beliefs
