She saw the brutality and swore off her fighting aspirations, taking her younger brother on her back after seeing her parents die, and fled the country. She left for the north, certain she would find work there.

History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her father always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. In her 13th year, her parents were killed by a illithids raid, leaving Barbena alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. After a long history of fighting, Barbena and her spouse have recently divorced.
