History: Mantus hails from a village terrorized by illithids. His mother took him hunting and taught him how to get in the mind of other creatures. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to illithids demanding more tribute than usual.

He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the east for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way west. He was granted arcane powers by his dying brother.

History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her mother always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. Her mother was a soldier and died while she was still young. Shautha was left her mother's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. She spent several years traveling with her friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.
