History: He was born at the edge of vast mountains. Valafar liked to wander the woods near his home when he was young, something he still likes to do at least once a week. He never liked modest clothing or shoes, so he would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and he developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. He was granted martial powers by his dying sister.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. Through the years after Rurik was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Rurik's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. Recently a tribe of illithids attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Rurik fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.
