History: Born to a poor family in the city she treasured whatever gifts she got. She was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. She never won. During her travels, Joan and her party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Joan discovered the rest of her party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. History: Nuraval hails from a village terrorized by illithids. His parents were killed by illithids in a raid when he was still a young child. The illithids captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. Recently the stress of being a Bather has made it difficult for him to sleep.

Motivation: Many illithids want him driven away; and further expansion of business
