She was a general practitioner in the west for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way north. Since then, she has sought to make the best of life.

Motivation: To unite with her brother; and she made a deal with a demon which lead to her current lot in life, and she's becoming increasingly nervous about it
