Balimaar grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. He has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Mayor. He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by dire rats. River was horrified and prayed that her father was alright. However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the dire rats.
