Since his mother passed away years ago, his father had doted on him, and he came to think her himself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by illithids. Hunter was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the illithids.

His father taught him the rudiments of the Unemployed arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. He struck it rich when he found rare goods in large quantities. One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind.
