    Lawful vs Chaotic

  • Lawful characters generally let the law dictate their beliefs. This can be law made by the state, by their order, by an oath they took, or any set of predefined rules that dictate behavior. Trends more towards the collective thought rather than personal thought.
  • Chaotic characters let their own whims and preferences dictate their beliefs, believing things should be judged on a case by case basis. This can be from their mood, personal beliefs, or own best judgement, and typically avoids predefined rules. Trends more towards personal thought rather than collective thought.

    • Good vs Evil

  • Good characters try to do things for the benefit of others, even if it means causing misfortune for themselves.
  • Evil characters try to do things for the benefit of themselves, or may delight in causing misfortune to others.

    • Neutrality

  • Neutral characters avoid taking an extreme stance on things, either preferring a mix of both or avoiding choosing at all. They can be neutral in the Lawful vs Chaotic spectrum, the Good vs Evil spectrum, or both (True Neutral).
